The Nama Jalu team acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the many lands and waters on which we work.

We pay our respects to Elders past and present whose knowledge and wisdom inspires and guides our work.

Nama Jalu is based on Gadigal land – land that nurtures our team and our ties with community. This is, was, and always will be Aboriginal land.

Our services

We provide a flexible and collaborative consulting service that is tailored to the needs of the people and communities we work with.

Aboriginal led co-design

We support Aboriginal communities and organisations to identify and develop policies, programs and services that work for them. Using participatory and creative methods, we bring together the wisdom of lived experience and cultural knowledge with evidence and data.

Facilitating yarns and community engagement

We use the power of yarning circles to build trust, create safe spaces and amplify the voice of Aboriginal people, communities and organisations across a range of sectors. Drawing on a range of methods from interviews and yarning circles to workshops and community forums, we bring a flexible, participatory and trauma-informed approach to every engagement.

Capacity building and support

We support Aboriginal organisations to build the skills and capabilities of their staff and leaders to document and deliver culturally strong and outcomes-driven community services. This includes support with tenders and grant applications, strengthening organisational strategies, systems and processes, developing staff handbooks and frameworks and providing training. We have particular expertise in supporting trauma-informed and culturally strong practice.

Research and evaluation

We design and deliver program evaluations, evaluation frameworks and research projects, with a focus on building the evidence base around what works best for Aboriginal people and communities. We have expertise in collaborating with our partners on program logics, outcomes frameworks and data collection tools. We also design participatory research methods, conduct interviews and focus groups and synthesise and analyse community feedback.
